Privacy Policy
Privacy Overview
This policy describes how we collect, use, and manage information when you interact with our site’s features, such as commenting, posting , embedded content, and login options.
Comment & Interaction Data
When you share a comment, we gather the information you provide, along with your browser’s user agent and IP address, to help us prevent spam. A hashed form of your email address may be used with Gravatar to display your avatar once your comment is approved.
Uploaded Media Considerations
Should you upload images, please refrain from including any embedded location metadata (like EXIF GPS). Uploaded media can be downloaded and the embedded metadata extracted by visitors.
Use of Cookies
- Comment Convenience: We may store your name, email, and site in a cookie for a year to help save your details for future comments.
- Login & Display Preferences: When you access the login page, a temporary cookie checks your browser’s compatibility; it’s deleted once you close your browser. After logging in, additional cookies remember your login status (up to two weeks if “Remember Me” is selected) and display choices (up to one year).
- Editing Activity: Publishing or editing an article triggers a short-lived cookie (expires in one day) storing the post ID to simplify editing processes.
Embedded Third-Party Content
You might encounter embedded media (e.g., videos, images, articles). These elements behave as though you visited their source directly, meaning those external platforms may track your interactions, collect data, set cookies, or use other tracking methods—especially if you’re logged into an account there.
Data Sharing and Retention
- Password Resets: Any request to reset a password includes your IP address in the notification email.
- Comment Archives: Once posted, your comment and associated metadata are stored indefinitely, enabling seamless moderation of follow-ups.
- User Profile Data: Registered users may view, edit, or delete their profile information at any time (excluding usernames). Administrators have access to this data as well.
Your Privacy Rights
If you’ve left comments or have an account, you can:
- Request a downloadable copy of your personal data held by us.
- Ask for the deletion of your data, excluding any that must be retained for legal or security reasons.
Data Transfer Practices
Comment data may be screened automatically using spam detection tools. We do not transfer any data externally unless required for these security checks.
